Project Overview:
Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States by far enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year.
As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team contractors engineering and building the facility. We are also managing procurement of about $1 Billion in goods and services.
Earth work began in 2023 and design and procurement of long-lead equipment is underway.
The project is located in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.
Planned with sustainability and the environment in mind, the facility will use its excess process heat to generate electricity and will recycle process water up to seven times. Once the second phase of the project is complete, Thacker Pass will produce more than 16 times the current U.S. output of lithium.

Job Summary:
In this role, you will manage and strategically influence the construction workface effectiveness (CWE) to define, develop, implement, and sustain global initiatives, plans, and tools for leadership development, data analytics, and productivity. You will lead the identification and mitigation of constraints to workface improvement. Your evaluation of progress and guidance will ensure programs maintain industry benchmarks, are continuously improving, and meet business requirements. #LI-NP1
Major Responsibilities:
Operations Lead
Acts as a strategic business partner with management and ability to manage a medium project >5000 and/or team oversight of 4-7
Proactively engages with their teams’ development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback
Develops and recommends the construction staffing plan for approval by CWE operations Manager
Operations Regional Manager
Responsible for all CWE regional aspects of the global initiatives for data analytics and leadership development tools and programs for specified region.
Responsible for daily operations for all CWE activities for a specified region
Responsible for researching, developing and implementing all cultural programs and inclusion into existing CWE programs for a specified region
CWE Operations Mgr.
Influences vision and strategy of the CWE Operations team in conjunction with the CWE Manager
Proactively engages with their teams’ development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback
Develops and recommends the construction staffing plan for approval by CWE Manager and prepares employee requisitions.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience in large EPC projects or 14-17 years of relevant work experience in large EPC projects
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Working experience at the jobsites as a Field Engineer, Construction Engineer on large industrial projects is essential.
Shall have experience in the preparation of work packages,
Proficient in reading drawings, interpret design, specifications and industry standards and codes.
Excellent communications skills
Proficient MS Office applications
Experience on Large Mining and Metal projects is highly preferred.
