This position is for an Sr. Layout Designer who will prepare designs for facilities associated with DOD and USAF projects and is located in Huntsville , Alabama.
Nuclear, Security and Environmental (NS&E) global business unit headquartered in Reston, VA manages nuclear, security and environmental project for DoD, DOE and commercial customers. The demand for our expertise is growing as we deliver the entire project life cycle: from research and development through engineering, procurement, construction and operation to decontamination and decommissioning. This position is responsible for direct production of design work by Bechtel as well as for coordinating the scope and integration of work. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will specifically support the GBSD program. The Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program is the Minuteman III replacement system led by the United States Air Force. Our team is supporting Boeing and the USAF’s nuclear deterrence mission to replace the entire weapon system and refurbish the existing ground systems infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
3D modeling of piping and equipment in a 3D model environment,
Preparation of drawings/documents for General Arrangements and piping isometrics drawings,
Assist with coordination of 3D model activities, i.e. input, interference reconciliation, etc. with other physical related disciplines,
Assists with plans and schedules and prepare/maintain design procedures, standards to provide quality design documents,
Interface with stress and pipe support engineers, construction, and suppliers during the preparation of piping designs for the purpose of model/space control, etc.,
Perform coordination review of specifications and other documents prepared by others.
Candidate should possess an advanced knowledge of piping codes such as ASME B31.3 or B31.1.
Basic Qualifications :
AA/AS degree or certification in an engineering curriculum or drafting/design with 8 years experience or in lieu of degree a high school diploma and a minimum of 12 years related experience
US Citizenship required
Minimum Qualifications :
Hands-on experience using in a 3D piping design platform
Extensive knowledge & application of ASME B31.1 and/or B31.3 codes
Preferred Qualifications :
Hands-on use of Revit and AutoCad for modeling and drawing generation
Previous Bechtel project experience
Previous DOD or USAF project experience
