Project Overview

The Bechtel renewables team performs project management, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup for onshore renewable wind production throughout various locations in the US. The work location for this project is Marshalltown, IA on a Short Term Assignment.

Position Summary

Bechtel is seeking a Project Controls Planner to support the Wind Project. The Planner will perform all scheduling and planning responsibilities for the project and be the main point of contact between the Renewables Project Controls group and project. The ideal candidate will work at a fast pace be self-motivated and able to work independently covering all project controls activities on a project.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains required schedule information by all disciplines/functions. Identifies restraints and effect on total project schedule.

  • Coordinates with all departments to ensure understanding of total projectschedule needs.

  • Responsible for total integration of schedule activities. Identifies schedule considerations and problems resulting from inter-discipline or functional restraints and interfaces.

  • Monitors and reports critical path and schedule performance of the total project. Conducts project schedule analysis and studies of problem areas to determine criticality of schedule activities.

  • Recommends alternatives for schedule improvement to project team for discussion and/or decision.

  • Responsible for leading, when requested, the development and review of schedule recovery plans, including evaluation of additional resources/costs required to affect such plans.

  • Elevates potential trends to the Renewables Project Controls group for cost support.

  • Interfaces with designated Bechtel management and client counterparts for specific planning and scheduling tasks.

  • Provides comments and recommendations for planning and scheduling requirements relative to staffing and project controls.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s from an accredited university and 4+ years of professional experience, or in lieu of a degree, high school diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of professional experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must demonstrate good interpersonal teamwork and communication skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.

  • Advanced level of proficiency in using PC operating systems and software applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Experience in development and monitoring of schedule in Primavera P6 software applications.

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

  • Possess the legal right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and objectives.

  • Demonstrated skill in identifying and analyzing issues and recommending corrective actions.

  • Previous or current Bechtel experience.
