Project Overview:

Pennsylvania Chemicals is a world-scale facility that will use ethane to produce 1.6 million tonnes of polyethylene per year. The project will involve up to 6,000 workers during its construction and is expected to employ 600 permanent employees when completed. The ethylene / polyethylene complex will be located in the Ohio River Valley north of Pittsburgh. It comprises an ethane cracker and three polyethylene units, plus OSBL including a gas-fired combined cycle cogeneration unit and a large storage-in-transit rail yard.

Role Overview

The Welding Clerk reports to the Lead Field Welding Engineer and provides support to more experienced construction engineering personnel by performing routine Welding Data inputs and Welding Doc Control retention assignments. Executes administrative tasks and uses drawings and specifications in daily work. Maintains welder testing records as well as Perm Plant welds for quantities and construction welding inspection reports. Completes assigned tasks under close supervision and technical direction.

POSITION DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position requires previous experinece, minimum 3 years, working with Bechtel’s BSAP’s, TeamWorks, WITS, and Bechtel Welding & NDE Services welding program and forms WR-1/2/3. Job duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain weekly database of welder certifications-Update TEAMWorks and/or WITS (Bechtel’s Weld Tracking Data Base) on a daily basis for recording data on VT, NDE reports, and PWHT status

  • Support the Welding Department including NDE Tech, Rod Room Attendants, PWHT Crew, Welding Engineers and welders.

  • Communicate with appropriate Supervision to ensure that welders are tested for material/procedure required

  • Create welder test sheets according to specifications and prepare test packets for welders on a daily basis.

  • Track, review and file weld cards.

  • Compile and record VT acceptance, RT Report, Weld Card Data and Sub-Contractor Reports.-Track welder turnover by maintaining the Welder Qualification Log and distributing as required.

  • Organize, file, and maintain welder certifications, test reports, weld cards and NDE Reports.-Complete Permits to Work and weld location maps for welds that require radiography-Manage subcontractor daily time and material reports-Assist with the request for new hire welder testng being conducted at the off site Bechtel test shops.-Provide the test results back to the Work Services Group and enter into the QCLNG test shop log.

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Execellent knowledge of welding and NDE document control procedures

  • Knowledge of materials and weld techniques

  • Knowledge of basic safety awareness programs and safety compliance.

  • Excellent Knowledge of Teamworks, E-track and WITS databases

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
