Job Summary:

In this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders’ involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff. Your field supervision will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely.#LI-SM2

Major Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff within the area of responsibility.

  • Role supports on mid-size projects of medium to high complexity with multiple stakeholders’ involvement.

Planning

  • Monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.

  • Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.

  • Coordinates the construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.

Safety / Quality

  • Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements

  • Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.

Technical

  • Supports Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents

  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.

  • Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Prior experience managing Union Craft

  • Experience promoting and cultivating a safe work ethic and positive work environment within the craft.

  • Computer literate in word processing functions, spread sheets, data base applications …

  • Experience working with, supervising, and administering direct hire work force and subcontractors,

  • 5+ years’ experience in Large Industrial plant construction projects or related experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and managing work forces to work packages, schedules, and budgets.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of reading understanding and following work process, procedures design guides and specifications.

  • Demonstrated leadership in team-based environment working with Field Engineers, craft professionals, while interpreting engineering design documents, vendor documents and other technical documents

  • Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the client, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of working within and EPC integrated team

  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero accident safety program and familiar with current industry safety standards

  • Experience in ES&H compliance and familiar with Bechtel’s processes and procedures.

  • Knowledge of construction quality assurance

  • Knowledge is normally acquired through:

  • A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or

  • Specialized courses in construction technology and management, and/or

  • Prior practical work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above.

  • Technical knowledge of all phases of piping construction and welding technology relating to a single or multiple area.

  • Knowledge of different types of welding and Non-destructive testing.

  • Experience with material handling and rigging of piping systems.
