Project Overview

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.

Job Summary

The Construction Coordinator acts as a representative of the construction functional group and serves as a link between Construction and the Engineering/Procurement teams. Participates in project meetings to represent construction and provide input to execution planning, schedules, cost, and general construction execution. Will develop a working knowledge of construction procedures, work processes and automation tools used by construction and other functional organizations. Ensures that construction requirements are made known to the project team in a timely manner and obtains construction responses to the needs of other members of the project team. Early participation in the design development process by providing constructability input, with a focus on improving construction safety and quality, while seeking to optimize cost and schedule. #LI-CL1

Major Responsibilities

Level 1

  • Participates in the Constructability Program process and schedule, identifying construction related requirements to other functions in time to support their estimating efforts during project development/Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) phase.

  • Supports in conducting constructability awareness training.

  • Supports construction related design decisions by providing construction’s perspective to schedules, design deliverables, equipment purchases, degree of shop fabrication, and equipment delivery configuration and sequence.

  • Supports development and delivery of constructability awareness training and/or enterprise or project supervisory and technical training.

  • Ensures lessons learnt from other projects and construction best practices are incorporated into the design.

  • Monitors and tracks engineering action items critical to support construction activities.

  • Monitors the completeness of engineering and procurement deliverables to support the construction schedule.

Level 2

  • Coordinates with all team members in generating and developing approved constructability ideas and plans.

  • Coordinates the Constructability Program process and schedule, identifying construction related requirements to other functions in time to support their estimating efforts during project development/Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) phase.

  • Provides facilitation support in conducting constructability awareness training.

  • Coordinates construction related design decisions by providing construction’s perspective to schedules, design deliverables, equipment purchases, degree of shop fabrication, and equipment delivery configuration and sequence.

  • Coordinates and maintains development and delivery of constructability awareness training and/or enterprise or project supervisory and technical training.

  • Maintains/develops enterprise-wide processes and procedures.

  • Participates in office and field meetings with project team members and client personnel, as required, e.g., project review meetings.

  • Identifies potential problem areas or trends and works on total installed cost and continuous improvement issues.

  • Performs and coordinates the construction review of engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Coordinates the construction review of vendor drawings, shop fabrication details, and erection procedures, on behalf of construction.

Education and Experience Requirements

Level 1

  • Requires 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.

Level 2

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of a specific construction engineering discipline gained through a combination of related education and construction experience.

  • Knowledge of the function and interrelationships of field construction entities and operations.

  • Knowledge of current industry standards.
