Project Overview:

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team to prepare and establish the project quality program. You will prepare and evaluate proposals, review project schedules and staffing, facilitate project metrics, identify quality problems, and recommend actions to correct deficiencies. Your leadership will ensure timely and effective implementation of project quality plan requirements and that goals and objectives are met.#LI-EH1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the preparation of and establishes the project quality program/plan

  • Reviews and approves quality related procedures prepared on project for project quality program compliance

  • Recommends actions to project personnel to correct observed quality deficiencies

  • Identifies quality problems, initiates documented action and verifies implementation of solutions

  • Manages the project corrective action system

  • Coordinates, supervises, and/or participates in the project auditing and monitoring program to verify project quality program effectiveness

  • May represent the project during quality assurance audits conducted by the client, management, or regulatory agencies

  • Reviews project schedules for quality related activities to ensure timely and effective implementation of the project quality plan requirements

  • Prepares project proposals to verify quality plans meet organizational objectives

  • Assigns work to and directs the activities of assigned quality personnel, including the implementation of the project Quality Core Processes: People Based Quality (PBQ), Lessons Learned, Close Loop Corrective Actions, Assessments and Continuous Improvement; and the recognition program (Quality Coin)

  • Performs and leads supplier/subcontractor qualification surveys, reviews requests for proposals, evaluates bid documents, reviews supplier/subcontractor quality programs, and performs source inspections, surveillances, and quality audits

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5 years of relevant experience or 10 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the quality principles and their application to engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, and operations.

  • Knowledge of the application of corrective actions to reconcile nonconforming conditions and conditions adverse to quality.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (NQA-1 and 10CFR50) and functions which impact the quality program/plan.

  • Proficiency in oral and written communications.

  • Ability to Travel

  • Skilled in the use of applicable computer programs.

  • Ability to Speak and/or write in Polish is a plus.

  • Prior experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, or other quality related field preferred.

  • Prior experience in the preparation and establishment quality programs/plans within the project.

  • Prior experience in the writing and review of quality‑related procedures prepared on the project to ensure compliance with the project quality program/plan.

  • Prior experience in reviewing new or revised regulatory requirements and incorporation into the quality program/plan.

  • Prior experience in project audit and surveillance programs that verify the effectiveness of the project quality program/plan and enable the timely mitigation of technical and program/project risks.
