Project Overview:

Bechtel is designing, constructing and commissioning the world’s largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington state. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era.

The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities.

The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and AECOM. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project.

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Selected applicant needs to be able and willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Role Overview:

Utilize the Corrective Action Management Program (CAMP) to:

  • Support some facets of the “Issue and Corrective Action” management program which is foundational to the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant’s (WTP) Quality assurance program and is crucial for maintaining a robust nuclear safety and quality culture.

  • Manage Condition Reports (CRs) for Recommendations and level C CRs from initiation to completion and closure, including action creation and closure.

  • Upon completion of training, support the management of level B CRs; including participation on Apparent Cause Evaluation (ACE) team investigations, as well as completion and closure of associated actions, perform and document extent of condition reviews and effectiveness reviews.

  • Participate in management meeting(s) on significant adverse condition resolutions, and provide input on the development of cross-functional Apparent Cause Evaluations (ACE’s) and multi-party corrective actions.

  • Responsible for supporting the cause analysis, corrective action plan, and effectiveness review methods for assigned condition reports which includes supporting the responsible manager when presenting the cause analysis results and corrective actions to the Corrective Action Review Board comprised of multi-party stakeholder representatives from Bechtel senior management, client, and regulatory authorities.

  • Maintain the DOORS database for Construction requirements, keeping information up-to-date and complete.

  • Point of contact for the Construction Lessons Learned. Generate Lessons Learned and utilize the use the Bechtel Lessons Learned system and DOEs OPEX system to search and retrieve relevant Lessons Learned.

  • Provide support to the Construction team with various support assignments as they may arise. Actively engage with SMEs in problem identification, compensatory actions, stop work mandates, and prompt investigations including implementation of corrective actions and development of closure documentation on all construction events related to Department of Energy Occurrence Reports.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related subject from an accredited university and 3 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, high school diploma or GED and 9 years of related experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check which includes verification of employment and education. Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.

  • Intermediate skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications

  • Proficiency in oral and written communications

  • Excellent organization skills

  • Requires the ability to receive direction from multiple sources and effectively establish priorities

  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior government experience

  • Candidate possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship
