Overview

Bechtel’s internship program was created to cultivate real-life industry interest based on hands-on experience. Many new university graduate hires began their careers at Bechtel as a student intern.

Chemical Engineering Interns work in multidisciplinary teams and provide support to solve problems involving the production or use of chemicals and bio-chemicals. 

  

The total number of interns and start dates are subject to workload and business conditions. Locations will vary based on project needs, and may include Houston, TX or Reston, VA, along with various project sites.

General Job Duties:

Chemical Engineering Interns may be responsible for:

preparing flow or detailed system piping and instrumentation diagrams; 

performing system sizing calculations; 

establishing facility design requirements and develop the system safety basis; 

determining the sequence of operations and the selection of equipment and operating conditions required to convert a feedstock into products; and

generating Process Flow Diagrams, Heat & Material Balances and Process Datasheets. 

Basic Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Chemical Engineering at an accredited college or university.

Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies in one of the above fields.

Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites. 

Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.

Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Preferred Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering at an accredited college or university.

Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA. 

Prior co-op or internship experience. 

Excellent written and oral communication skills.
