Project Overview:

Bechtel, a global leader in project management, engineering, procurement and construction, has been selected by Western Sydney Airport Co as its Delivery Partner for the Western Sydney Airport, a $5.3 billion greenfield facility in Badgerys Creek, New South Wales. This will be a landmark project for both New South Wales and Australia and is due for completion at the end of 2026.

Western Sydney Airport will provide much-needed additional aviation capacity to meet growing demand in the Sydney basin and improve access to flights for people in Western Sydney. One of Australia's most significant infrastructure projects in decades, the international and domestic airport will open in 2026, bringing social and economic prosperity to the Western Sydney region. Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team to plan and manage the system's completion and the turnover/handover activities. You will interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate the activities required to support the start-up/operations of a project facility. Your technical guidance will help address concerns, and ensure work is performed within scope, budget, and according to schedule.  #LI-DF1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Supports planning and leads the systems completion and turnover/handover activities for one facility and has technical responsibilities for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating the construction completions and turnover activities required to support the start-up/operations of the project facilities

  • Supervises and provides technical guidance to personnel assigned to projects or tasks within area of responsibility

  • Leads turnover or handover team in the coordination of plant turnover and systems completion, compiling documentation, and ensures quality and consistency of turnover packages and other paper and data deliverables to the client Systems Completion team

  • Coordinates with Client Systems Completion team, responsible for identifying areas of focus and concern for the client team and working with the construction team to ensure that those areas are addressed

  • Ensures that correct requirements are identified up front and placed into contractor and subcontractor requirements and contracts

  • Plans, guides, or prepares project administrative and technical documents as required for completions, turnover, handover, asset/data management to support startup, maintenance, operation, and testing

  • Coordinates completion, turnover and pre-startup between project engineering, construction, specialty staff groups, clients, and vendors

  • Ensures that work being performed is within scope of services and within budget

  • Provides supports for project management, engineering, and construction to ensure startup requirements are incorporated into project activities, including review of project designs and construction to ensure plant operability and operating personnel safety

  • Coordinates with client representatives to obtain approval on work as it is accomplished

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9 -12 years of relevant work experience​

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Receives assignments with clear goals and the process by which to meet goals​

  • Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance​

  • Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees​

  • Recommends changes to policies that affect immediate organization(s)​

  • Higher level management reviews work to measure meeting of objectives​
